Message from the Headmistress

Dear Parents,

Here we are at half term, with the promise of sunshine for the Bank Holiday weekend.

I remind senior parents to encourage pupils to test twice-weekly using lateral flow tests (LFD) over half-term and to ensure they test within 48 hours of returning to school after the holiday. Should anyone have a positive LFD test, they must follow up with a PRC lab test from a local centre. If a positive result is identified within two days of school breaking up for the holidays, please let us know on covid@hollygirt.notts.sch.uk so that the school can contract trace and make others aware.

I am also requested by the Department of Education to advise you about the current travel restrictions, and the need to quarantine on arrival if returning from an amber or red listed country. Please check the government website for further details, if you are travelling abroad.

I wish you all a very restful break,

Mrs Hutley
Headmistress

Message from the Head of Juniors

Dear Parents,

The sun has come out and it has been a lovely end to the week.  Early Years particularly enjoyed their visitor on his motorbike yesterday and bringing their own bikes and scooters to school.  Junior testing week is complete.  KS1 have worked through some end of unit Maths and Reading assessments whilst KS2 children have had a full week of tests. The children are certainly pleased to have finished them. Well done to all of the children for their hard work and commitment and thank you for your support at home.  Some amazing results and the children should be very proud.

Unfortunately, we have decided that this year, the Garden Party will not run as an external event.  We will, however, run a similar event for the children in school with a bouncy castle and usual stalls, but in our bubbles.  It will still be a fantastic day for them and we hope to invite parents to the Garden Party next year.  Mrs Wand will be writing to you after half term with more information on this year’s event.

I wish you all a very relaxing half term holiday with hopefully lots of sunshine.  There is a lot to look forward to, including exciting residential trips for Years 5 and 6 and Years 3 and 4. We are in the process of planning other end-of-term trips and will be in touch about these soon.

The week’s Stars of the Week can be viewed here.

Have a lovely week,

Mrs Wright
