Pupils in Junior School were pleased to welcome Councillor David Mellen this morning as part of his Big Reading Challenge.
Councillor David Mellen, Portfolio Holder for Early Intervention and Early Years at Nottingham City Council, set a challenge to read to 5,000 children in 50 days. The challenge aims to raise £5,000 to give free books to children in the city through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Today is day 47 of 50 and we were very pleased to hear that before arriving at Hollygirt, he had already surpassed his target having read to 5,980 children. He has now read to over 6,000 children in Nottingham City including 80+ from Hollygirt School.
