Weekly News Friday 8th July

Message from the Head

Dear Parents,

Just a short message from me today as a longish letter has already been emailed to you with my update (or can be read here). I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the performances this week and have commissioned EYFS/KS1 to come and talk to the seniors next week about global warming. Wishing you all a great summer holiday when it gets here and see you tomorrow at the garden party. A quick shout out to Shanti Sud – one of our LSAs who was on National News this week discussing racism in cricket -more on our inclusivity diversity and equality next term.

Best wishes,

Helen Barsham

Message from the Head of Juniors

Good afternoon,

This will be my last weekly news of the academic year and what a year to reflect on. The children have worked so hard and we couldn’t be prouder of them. We are so pleased to have been able to go on trips and visits again and invite parents back into school for key events. As always, your continued support is hugely appreciated by all of us.

It was lovely to see so many of you at the Summer Productions on Monday. The children performed amazingly. So many lines to learn and songs to sing – they were just brilliant. Many thanks to Mrs Maher, Mrs Heatlie and all staff who prepared the children so well.

Early Years and Year One celebrated their year of achievements on Tuesday in their own Prize Giving ceremony. Well done to the prize winners and all children who have achieved so much this year. This was followed by EYFS Sports Day which the children just loved!

Yesterday, children had the opportunity to meet their new teachers. I am sure they came home excited about next year and all the fun they will have.

The bouncy castle is here and Junior children have already been enjoying this today. Tomorrow, the Garden Party begins at 10am. Please could all children, parents and guests use the main entrance on Elm Avenue and sign in on arrival. Thank you for all your generous donations and offers of help at this event. I know many of you are bringing in baked goods tomorrow and this is much appreciated – please could you make sure these do not contain nuts or sesame and a full ingredients list is provided.

Our Year Six children will be delivering their Leavers’ Assembly on Monday. Parents of Year Six children are warmly invited to join us from 8:30am for coffee and to watch the assembly.

All Junior children will be out on trips on Tuesday. I am sure the children are very much looking forward to these.

Wednesday is of course the last day of term. School finishes at 12:30 and there is no After School Club on this day. Children can come in their own clothes on this day.

Next week looks like it is going to be hot. All children must come to school with a sun hat and bring sun cream with them. Please could you make sure these are labelled with names.

As our Year Six move across to Senior School, we wish them all the best. We will miss seeing them in the playground every day but hope they will pop back to say hello from time to time! To the children moving onto new schools, we hope you will be very happy and please keep in touch.

And finally, I would like to thank all staff for their hard work and support this year.

I hope children, parents and staff have a fantastic Summer break. I look forward to seeing you in September.

Have a lovely weekend,

Victoria Wright
