If you apply, you will be invited to an interview with the Head and Head of Sixth Form. We need to make sure that you will succeed in your course so we will have a realistic conversation. As experts in cognitive science, we understand the impact of test anxiety in high-stakes exams and thus will look at GCSE results in this light and with understanding; we know you can have a bad day / a bad exam.
This scenario may explain our approach: You have been receiving regular Level 6 in Chemistry in class and then got a Level 4 in the exam – perhaps due to stress and /or making a mistake on the paper – we will talk to your teachers to get their opinions and if joining from another school, we will still have those conversations. We don’t feel that assessment on one day is always representative of ability or indeed aptitude for the future.
Places will then be offered subject to a satisfactory school reference (external applicants only).
