At this time of year, the ground of Elm Avenue is covered with lovely yellow, brown and red leaves that have fallen from the trees.
In Early Years, we collected the best autumn leaves we could find. We loved the rustling sound they made when we swished them around in the box. Mrs Heatlie told us about the veins which transport water, minerals and food energy through the leaf and on to the rest of the plant.
We had such fun painting the leaves and seeing the patterns made from the veins when we printed them onto paper.
